Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

National University’s Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is designed to provide both the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to operate in a variety of professional counseling settings, and to provide services for individual clients and groups from diverse backgrounds. The program is focused on training highly skilled counselors to provide impactful and culturally sensitive mental health services in their communities. The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a unique program that teaches students to interpret the ethical and legal standards of professional counseling, examine the advocacy of social and cultural diversity in professional counseling contexts, and to examine theories and models of clinical counseling. Students in this program will also learn practical skills such as how to apply theories and models of career development, how to employ group work principles in the practice of group counseling, how to select clinically appropriate assessment and testing tools, and finally, how to implement evidence-based practice using relevant scholarly work and research methods.
