Master of Arts in Teaching - Special Education - Adapted Curriculum (Online)

Liberty University’s 100% online Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Special Education – Adapted Curriculum equips students with the full range of essential skills they need for licensed special education teaching, which meets advanced standards. Students in the M.A.T. in Special Education – General Curriculum will engage in advanced special education studies, in-class experience in a local school, and can optionally attend on-campus intensives to gain hands-on training and critical teaching knowledge. This program is designed to fulfill requirements for the Adapted Curriculum Add-On Endorsement based on the advanced standards of the Council of Exceptional Children (CEC), the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) Model Core Teaching, and the Virginia Department of Education for Special Education Adapted Curriculum K-12. These additional credentials can provide students with highly-marketable skills that can set them apart as advanced special education experts. Students will complete the necessary practicum and student teaching requirements for in-class training that will fulfill requirements for the Virginia Department of Education. After obtaining licensure, students can apply for reciprocity in other states by meeting any additional steps for those states. The M.A.T. in Special Education – Adapted Curriculum prepares students for teaching roles such as K-12 curriculum manager, licensed special education teachers, special education program coordinators, teaching product developers, and tutors.
